
Zola Hinds is a final year PhD researcher within the Nuclear Futures Institute (NFI) at Bangor University. Her research focuses on the application of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) for nuclear fuel performance modelling, with particular relevance to fuel fragmentation relocation. Her doctoral research is funded by the UK National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) , Opera HPC and the European Union under the UKRI Horizon Guarantee Scheme.
Zola is a past recipient of the British Council Women in STEM Scholarship (2021). She holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Data Science (Distinction) from Bangor University and completed a six-month industry internship at M-SParc (Menai Science Park), where she gained experience at the interface of research, innovation and industry collaboration.
In addition to her research, Zola has served as the NFI student representative on the Nuclear Action Group in 2024 contributing to institute-level risk management and strategic planning.
