In February 2026, Yehor Yudin, Tom Griffiths and Cillian Cockrell from the NFI, Bangor University attended the LiBRTI Conference in Breeder Blanket Technology, which was held at the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s (UKAEA) Culham Campus.
As an inaugural conference of the Lithium Breeding Tritium Innovation (LiBRTI) program, it brought together nearly 200 experts from across industry, academia and government to address the “tritium gap”. The event focused on the technolcal hurdles of creating self-sustaining fusion fuel cycle, specifically through the development of breeder blankets.
In all it was a great, focused conference on tritium breeding technology that brought together collaborators and future users of the LIBRTI facility. It demonstrated a lot of developments around different concepts in the field and gave a perfect opportunities to network.
