It was a pleasure to host Julianne Antrobus, CEO of the United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory, and her team to Bangor University and the Nuclear Futures Institute for a focused day of discussion about future collaboration.
The visit coincided with the formal renewal of the partnership between Bangor University and the United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory. A memorandum of understanding has been signed to strengthen nuclear research, skills development, and innovation across North Wales. The agreement sets out a shared commitment to developing talent, supporting collaborative research, and ensuring the region can provide industry ready expertise aligned with the UK’s nuclear ambitions.
Although the signing marked an important milestone, it also reflects years of sustained effort. Professor Dave Goddard, Paul Nevitt, Nicholas Smith, and Gareth Headdock have been key figures supporting the NFI, representing the continuity and support that have helped bring the partnership to this stage.
As North Wales continues to expand its role within the UK’s nuclear sector, the renewed agreement provides a clear framework for coordinated growth and long term collaboration.
