Technocamps Girls in Science and Technology Outreach

As a part of the Women in STEM week during February, Technocamps at Bangor University arranged a week of activities for female students aged between 11 and 14 who attend secondary schools in the area.

Megan held an outreach session for the group of aspiring students, discussing the role of nuclear in the wider community such as for medicinal purposes. The main focus of the session was on nuclear energy and nuclear waste. Students were given a chance to understand how nuclear energy works, alongside discussing some of the perceived disadvantages of nuclear.

Once the topic of nuclear waste management was discussed, the students participated in an activity where they had to construct and code their own automated waste management robot using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 kit.
