Dr. Jinfeng Li
Post-doctoral Research Officer in Reactor Design & Thermal Hydraulics
With backgrounds in reactor physics and microwave electronics, Dr. Jinfeng Li joined the Nuclear Futures Institute in Mar.2021 to develop state-of-art sensing technologies for the Thermal-Hydraulics Open-access Research facility (THOR).
Dr. Jinfeng Li received the B.Eng. degree (1st class) in electrical and electronics engineering from the University of Birmingham and Huazhong University of Science & Technology, in 2013, the MPhil degree in nuclear energy from the University of Cambridge, in 2014, and the Ph.D. degree in millimetre-wave electronics engineering from the University of Cambridge, in 2019. From 2019, he joined the University of Southampton as a research fellow, and Imperial College London as a visiting research fellow.
His research experiences include (1) millimetre-wave beam steering devices based on liquid crystals for 5G, satellite internet, and radio astronomical instrumentation; (2) computational modelling of nuclear reactor core using Monte Carlo and deterministic methods for energy policy decision-making; (3) wireless passive surface acoustic wave sensors antenna array for monitoring the structural integrity of LNG tanks; (4) motor drives of multilevel multicell inverters for fuel economy and sustainable cities; (5) sentiment analysis of big data for stock market forecasting; (6) contact tracing and health informatics for COVID-19.
Dr Li was a recipient of the IET Award, IEEE Conference Best Paper Award, and AP Jarvis Prize. He was a Cambridge Trust Scholar, Emerging Technologist with Barclays UK, Speaker at 50th & 46th European Microwave Conferences (EuMC), Editorial Board member of 3 Science Citation Index journals, and a concert pianist.
