Archana Prasad

PhD Student

Archana joined the NFI in September 2023 as a PhD student in the Reactor Design and Thermal Hydraulics group. Her project is primarily focused on investigating Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) effects on the heat transfer properties of molten lead. This project in collaboration with UKAEA is  to be conducted on BULLET

Archana has completed an integrated masters (MEng) in Materials Science at Imperial College with a specialisation in Nuclear Engineering in 2023. Her masters project was focused on improving the density and shielding ability of tungsten boride as shielding for fusion reactors. During the degree she undertook an undergraduate placement under the university’s UROP scheme modelling SiC failure of the TRISO nuclear fuel.

Archana’s PhD work is supervised by Dr. Marat Margulis in the RDTH group in the Nuclear Futures Institute. She also has an affiliation to the Nuclear Energy Futures Centre for Doctoral Training (NEF CDT)
