On the 13th June Prof. Bill Lee (NFI co-director) contributed to the Royal Society of Chemistry’s (RSC) “Science and the Senedd” event. This was the nineteenth time this annual event has been held and took place in Cardiff in the Senedd and at the Pierhead.
The aim of Science and the Senedd is to bring policymakers and the Welsh science and engineering community closer together. This year’s theme was around the contribution STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) makes to the economy and aimed to explore whether we have the STEM workforce we need for the future.
The event involved participants from Welsh Government, learned societies (including the RSC, Institute of Physics), academics from all universities in Wales, schools and FE Colleges. Bill Lee spoke about the skills needs for nuclear science and engineering in Wales and was a member of the panel when skills were discussed.
