PhD Opportunity in Nuclear Forensics Techniques
The Nuclear Futures Institute has a number of opportunities for funded PhD projects in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and Home Office aimed at researching in the field of Nuclear Forensics. The projects aim to assess and discover new nuclear forensics techniques to understand the provenance and processing of various nuclear materials.
A combination of modelling (from the atomic scale to mesoscale) and experimental work is expected to be undertaken, using the Nuclear Futures Institute’s state-of-the-art facilities that include electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, high resolution mass spectroscopy and active handling facilities.
