PhD students Danielle Praag, Josh Hobbins, Josh Hughes and Pranav Sabuji attended the NEF CDT Summer School event held at University of Cambridge.
Across the two days, there was several presentations from researchers in their final year along with a poster session held by second year researchers. We also were given a talk by the keynote speaker on “Nuclear for 2050: The relevance of nuclear to a G20 nation’s ‘total energy’ requirement in Northern Europe and what that means for future reactor designs.”
Following this there were talks from industry members, including a career event, followed by a reception dinner. This event provided us with an opportunity to network with several industry members and discuss potential future opportunities. It also provided us information regarding what industry are looking for when hiring researchers. This was very helpful as it allowed the students insight into what areas they will need to develop and assess their future employability.
