Moli Smith
PhD Project-
Simulation of the evolution of physical properties of plutonium oxide powders through aging.
Sponsor- AWE Plc & NEF
Moli obtained an integrated Masters (MChem) in Chemistry from the University of Liverpool in 2023. She joined the NFI in October 2023 to start her PhD in the Materials group under the supervision of Prof. Simon Middleburgh. Her project is sponsored by AWE Nuclear Security Technologies and supported by the Nuclear Energy Futures Centre for Doctoral Training (NEF CDT). Moli’s research combines computational and experimental techniques to investigate how radioactive ageing affects the microstructure and morphology of actinide oxide materials for nuclear forensic applications. She is also affiliated with the Nuclear Threat Reduction Network (NTR-Net).
