Multiscale Dosimetry and Optimisation of Bimetallic Nanoparticle for Personalised Targeted Radionuclide Therapy

Olatunde Michael Oni is a doctoral researcher at Bangor University’s Nuclear Futures Institute, with a strong academic background in Radiation and Health Physics. Driven by a passion for advancing cancer therapies, he is focused on integrating innovative approaches from nuclear medicine and nanomaterials to develop personalised, high-precision treatments.

Research:
At the intersection of nuclear medicine, nanotechnology, and computational radiobiology is his research which focuses on ‘Multiscale Dosimetry and Optimisation of Bimetallic Nanoparticle for Personalised Targeted Radionuclide Therapy’, with particular emphasis on high-LET emitters such as alpha particles and Auger electrons. The project explores how bimetallic nanoparticles can be engineered to enhance the localisation and delivery of therapeutic radionuclides, offering a novel approach to improving the therapeutic index in cancer treatment.

By integrating multiscale dosimetric modelling, from macroscopic tumour targeting down to subcellular energy deposition, this work seeks to provide a mechanistic basis for optimising nanoparticle design for personalised therapy. The goal is to contribute to a new generation of targeted radionuclide therapies that are more selective, efficient, and adaptable to individual patient profiles.
