Dr. Gauri Mahalle
Materials Modelling Post-Doctoral Research Associate
Gauri joined Bangor University’s Nuclear Futures Institute in August 2021 with broad expertise in hot deformation behaviour, material & mechanical characterization, and material modelling of high-performance superalloys. She completed a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical engineering from Government College of Engineering, Amravati, India, and a Master of Design in Mechanical Systems Design from the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design & Manufacturing Kancheepuram, Chennai, India. Afterwards, she joined PhD at Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani-Hyderabad Campus, India in 2017. Her research activities focused on sheet metal forming of Inconel alloy sheets, quasi-static strain-rate material behaviour, development of different fracture and constitutive models, finite element simulation of various forming operations and microstructure analysis. She also received a CSIR Senior Research Fellowship for doctoral research.
Her primary responsibilities at Bangor University will be to support research into materials modelling for hot deformation and fracture behaviour of advanced alloys in nuclear and advanced manufacturing applications. She is investigating the microstructural length-scale deformation and irradiation damage of metals in a corrosive environment.
