Laura has been with the NFI since February 2025 and is a fluent Welsh speaker. She was raised in Bangor and attended Ysgol Friars before moving away to attend university, where she completed her Teacher Training degree.

Having worked in a variety of multicultural schools across England for 5 years, she returned to North Wales and taught in a range of schools before joining the NFI. Through her varied career as a teacher, she gained valuable organisational and time management skills. In addition to this she is skilled in problem solving and has a high understanding of digital tools, record systems and database management.

Working in schools developed her communication skills by working closely with people of all ages. This has been helpful when supporting a wider team in the NFI. Her bilingualism has been beneficial to the NFI through offering a clear and inclusive service to both students, staff and external parties.

Laura’s role at the Nuclear Futures Institute involves a multitude of tasks that include but are not limited to: 

• Organising and facilitating meetings within the NFI and with external parties.
• Collecting data and maintaining records for the NFI.
• Following the procurement procedures of the wider university to facilitate the purchase of goods needed to undertake projects.
• Arranging travel and accommodation for staff and students to attend events across the world.
